The two candidates from the Vice-Province of Manila were not able to come for the said program due to their classes. Nonetheless, they had no difficulty at all in catching up. The total number of the novices for the Formation Year 2015-2016 are as follows:
We have Patipon “Tony” Sub-ananchai and Somchai “Yai” Chojan from Bangkok Tailand , Visith “Ball” Sangsavang and Sopon “Top” Jairanaikul from Samutprakan Thailand, and Suddet “Dej” Mekaree from Chonburi Thailand from the Province of Thailand. We also have Christian Kenneth “Ken” Del Villar from Bulacan and Roel “Jun2x” Gutierrez from Batangas from the Vice-province of Manila. From the Province of Cebu we have Froilem Bonn Barretto from Maguindanao, Miguel “Migs” Gaspe from Davao, Marthy John Silubrico from Iloilo, Philip Portillo from Palo, Hilario “Hil” Idulsa Jr. from Bohol, and yours truly, Vincent Chloe Que.
Fr. Enos Bulu Bali, C.Ss.R. being the Novice Master, had been very keen on making sure that the schedules and activities stated in the Novitiate Program were followed. It is easy to get along with him. Fr. Willy Jesena, C.Ss.R. on the other hand, being the Socius, has been an exemplary witness to the Redemptorist way of life. There are also new members of the senior community of Lipa: Fr. Dennis Despues, C.Ss.R. the new Rector, Fr. Ernie Garcia, C.Ss.R., Fr. Raymond Urizza, C.Ss.R., Fr. Pete Katigbak, C.Ss.R., and Frs. Leomar and Geovanne who are currently in Palawan conducting missions.
So far, we have finished our classes on the History of the Congregation with Fr. Willy. We are now currently having classes on the Constitutions with Fr. Enos. We also have finished our in-house psychological programs on Genogram and Psycho Spiritual Integration with Ate Nids and Ate Pet.
Likewise we already had Enneagram, Theatre Arts, Human Sexuality, and Body Prayer from EXODUS (EXchange Of Dreams in a Unified Struggle for a relevant formation). I would like to highlight Theatre Arts not because of Albert but because of Fr. Willy. He is the oldest formator present there, but nevertheless he went through the whole exhausting three days of theatre arts. That is something to note!
The Province of Oceania generously donated a new car for the Novitiate. We now have the Hi-Ace, the Motorcycle, and the new Innova. This called for the construction of the new novitiate garage. The vice-province of Manila also generously lent us their house in 14th street, New Manila. That gives the Novitiate Community some independence whenever we go to Manila for EXODUS.
With the minimal involvement in the shrine and with our Jail, Hospital, and Sarnelli (Center for Street kids by the VP) apostolate the Novitiate is a place to deepen our spirituality and prayer life. Our daily meditations, office, and Mass nourish us in our journey towards religious life.
For a more elaborate view of our life in the novitiate please look forward to read the maiden issue of our own publication Doorway.
Please pray for us as we also pray for the Province and the entire congregation. It is great to be back!
